For more than twenty years Elizabeth Vando created thriller plots and stories, but with a demanding job, publishing was never on the menu. Until she decided that her stories needed an audience.
After considering offers from publishers, she chose to publish on her own terms, giving her the freedom to turn long-held plots into finished novels. Her work spans suspense fiction, modernized editions of neglected European classics, and translation and editorial work on books about jazz and film.
Through Vando Classics, she produces abridged, modernized and annotated English editions of important European works that have faded from view. The first title in the series is Darkness, Alois Jirásek’s sweeping historical novel about faith, power and survival in eighteenth-century Bohemia.
She is currently completing the first in a series of thrillers starring Victoria, an American living in Amsterdam. Victoria is drawn into crimes that cross borders and reach deep into the past.
Elizabeth lives in the Netherlands with her three dogs – none particularly respectful of writing hours – and travels regularly between Amsterdam, Los Angeles and London.
